Weather in Navarre and Navarre Beach

What’s the weather like in April? Is it cold in January? What kind of temperatures can we expect in February? Do you have a heated swimming pool?

As owners of the Seahorse Retreat and managers of the Palm Breeze Beach House, we get questions like that a lot. Here’s what you can expect at different times of the year in the Navarre and Navarre Beach area.

Our infinity-edge swimming pool is not heated, however, both homes have their own heated Jacuzzi, which most guests use throughout the year.

Our Favorite Time: Our favorite times to visit are in the spring and fall. April and May are beautiful months - not too hot and humid, but pleasant and warm. October is gorgeous, too. But no matter when you visit, you’ll find advantages to every month of the year.

Here’s what you can expect looking month-by-month:

January: Well, yes. This is the coldest month. Normally temps are in the 50s and 60s, but they can drop to the 30s and 40s for a few days. But, the air is clear, and if you’re coming from Michigan or Minnesota or anywhere up north, the temperature is downright balmy! No matter how cold it may get, the Jacuzzi (see picture below - The Seahorse Retreat spa) on property is hot and at night is a good time to relax and watch the steam rise skyward while watching the stars!

February: Temps are ticking upward. There will be some chilly days in the 50s but mostly 60s and sometimes 70s. The breeze from the north pushes the water offshore creating a more expansive beach.

March: Yes, you can start donning a bathing suit and be comfortable. Normally 70s… but it can dip into the 50s, so just be aware.

April: This month is usually ideal! While most people love to visit in the summer, it can be very hot! But during April you can still be outside, enjoy the warmth, and not sweat too much. Plus, the grass is greening, the flowers are blooming, and it’s still not high tourist season.

May: Another beautiful month! That sun is becoming more intense, though…but it always makes for terrific sunrises and sunsets (see related blog post).

June, July, and August: Bring on the sunscreen. Actually, you need sunscreen all months of the year here, so make sure to use it. If you love heat, you’ll love these months. High 80s and 90s are the norm. You may need to escape into the air conditioning a lot, though, but hey, there’s the pool, the Sound, and the Gulf to bathe in. And it is the lazy days of summer….

September: Heat and humidity are tempering off slightly but can still be stifling, depending on forecast. 80s...It is a terrific time to rest on the edge of the infinity-edge pool and watch whatever action is taking place in the Sound; fish jumping, dolphin, even military exercises such as this Helocast dropping troops into the sound and being picked up by boats (see related blog post).

October: Highly recommend. 70s-80s.

November/December: Early November is normally still quite nice, though water temperatures have dipped. There have been days we’ve visited in late November and in December where it’s still in the balmy 70s.

Water Temperature: Water temperatures peaks in the range 28 to 31°C (82 to 88°F) on around the 14th of July and are at their minimum on about the 11th of February, in the range 16 to 20°C (61 to 68°F). It is not uncommon to be able to spend short periods of time in the Sound in the winter months dependent on individual tolerance. We have conducted dock repairs in winter while being in the water. However, parents should supervise their children at all times when in the water.
